Indications:
* Patients unable to exercise for whatever reason.
* Patients with LBBB.
* Pre-operative assessment for vascular surgery (esp. AAA
repair).
Exclude:
* Patients with severe asthma discuss with Nuclear Medicine physician
if there is any doubt).
Preparation:
* Fast overnight (may drink water only).
* No tea or coffee, chocolate or other caffeine for 24 hours.
* No Theophylline containing medications (eg Theodur, Nuelin, Brondecon) for 24 hours. If this is not acceptable to the patient or referring doctor, discuss with Nuclear Medicine physician.
* All other medications may be taken as usual up till the day of the test (including nitrates, B-blockers and calcium antagonists).
* For diabetics, discuss with Nuclear Medicine physician.
EXERCISE OR DOBUTAMINE SESTAMIBI/THALLIUM TEST
* Patient must fast from 12 midnight. Can drink water only.
* Suspend beta-blockers fro 48 hours prior to test on doctors-orders.
(Solalol must be ceased for 72 hours).
* Calcium channel blockers suspend 24hours prior to test.
* Suspend long-acting nitrates on the day of the test.
* Comfortable clothes and flat shoes.
* Please allow 4-5 hours.
* A request letter if necessary from the referring doctor.
* All diabetics discuss with sister/doctor when booking test.
* All asthmatics discuss with sister/doctor when booking test.
* All other medication may be taken as usual.
