Nursing Research Institute
On behalf of our team we are delighted to inform you about our new venture which we believe is unique in the Australian context. The St Vincents and Mater Health (SV&MHS) Australian Catholic University (ACU) Nursing Research Institute is the product of visionary leadership from the two participating entities and marks the start of a vibrant and exciting future for nursing led, clinically focused, patient outcome-oriented multidisciplinary research in healthcare in NSW and beyond.
SV&MHS is a premier healthcare provider comprising six public and private facilities as follows: St Vincent’s Hospital; St Vincent’s Private Hospital, The Mater Hospital, Sacred Heart Hospice, St Joseph’s Hospital and St Joseph’s Village.
ACU is a national university with campuses in NSW, Victoria, Queensland and ACT. Both organisations are strongly mission and values driven with a focus on serving the people of NSW.
The Nursing Research Institute provides a base for the conduct of nursing research while constructing a bridge between theory and practice and promoting evidence implementation, thus, uniting the worlds of academia and clinical practice. Excitingly, the NRI is also part of the National Centre for Clinical Outcomes Research (Nursing & Midwifery) (NaCCOR), an Australian Catholic University priority research centre.
By bringing together those who ‘think’ about and investigate the professions’ work and those who actually ‘do’ it, a robust culture of inquiry and innovation in nursing and patient care will flourish. The Institute therefore marks a radical new beginning for the future of healthcare research and aims to make a significant contribution to the health and well-being of the citizenry of Australia.
