The ITSC’s core goal is to ‘enable all staff to provide better patient care’.
This has been achieved cost-effectively by the in-house development of clinically-focused applications that attempt to actually ‘work for the clinician’.

On-Line Ward List

The St Vincent’s Hospital On-line Ward List (OwL) application was implemented in 2002 to provide an electronic whiteboard of the inpatient wards for nurses and doctors. The web-based application provides access to patient details, alerts, results, diets, orders, action comments, to do lists, rosters, contact and paging lists. OwL can be accessed from any of the 12 clinical workstations on every ward or from anywhere on the Darlinghurst Campus.

Medical Record System – Web DeLacy
The next-generation electronic medical record system called ‘Web deLacy’ is currently being implemented. This system provides orders, results, alerts, diets, action lists, contact and paging lists, rostering, clinical messaging, clinical pathways, risk assessment, medical history, clinical forms, progress notes, discharge summaries and full medication prescribing and nurse administration using the Hatrix MedChart system.

St Vincent’s is a recognised leader in the development, implementation and use of electronic medical record systems in Australia.
